Nature - Surgical Readiness for Long Duration Microgravity Exposure

Ilaria Cinelli is co-editing, alongside Lisa Brown (The Royal Melbourne Hospital), a new Collection titled "Surgical Readiness for Long Duration Microgravity Exposure," published in npj Microgravity, part of the Nature Portfolio. The Collection gathers research in perioperative and operative medicine aimed at ensuring surgical safety during long-duration spaceflight and future Moon bases, laying the groundwork for clinical management guidelines and identifying current technological gaps. The work also aims to support the translation of these surgical technologies back into terrestrial medicine, with benefits for global health. Submissions are open, with a deadline of 17 May 2027.
